2024 Great Northern Brahman Bull and Heifer Sale

Cattlemen and women across Queensland will once again descend on the tropical north as the sixth annual Great Northern Brahman Sale returns to the Whitsundays on 23-24 October 2025.

Taking place across two action-packed days, this year’s sale will feature over 150 premium lots of red and grey brahman bulls, heifers and genetics that cater to both stud and commercial operations.

First-release progeny will be the highlight of this years’ sale, with the first sons of $200,000 Fairy Springs Royal Flush being offered, the first release of Australian progeny from JDH Benson Manso 500/9, and direct Hudgins bloodlines offered through JDH Sir Lawford Manso 616/6 progeny. Other notable cattle in the sale include the first progeny to be offered out of the $50,000 NCC Red Opal female sired by sire-of-the-moment Kariboe Valley Ventura, an exceptional NCC Dakota daughter, and the last semen to be released in Australia for 2025 of Mr US Polled Fusion 711/9 (IMP US) (PS).

The sale will kick off with the Greater Whitsunday Vet Services Heifer and Genetics Sale on Thursday, 23 October at the iconic Airlie Beach Hotel. Beginning at 7.00pm, this live and online auction will offer 17 elite lots comprised of 6 grey heifers, 6 red heifers, and 5 semen packages. With a vibrant atmosphere and stunning ocean views, the night sale promises to be a major highlight for breeders chasing top-tier females and genetics.

The sale then shifts to the Great Northern Bull and Heifer Sale on Friday, 24 October at the Proserpine Showgrounds. Starting at 10am, 142 lots will go under the hammer including 117 red and grey bulls and 22 red and grey heifers. This is a must-attend sale for those chasing proven, performance-tested Brahman cattle.

2024 Great Northern Brahman Bull and Heifer Sale

The Great Northern Brahman Sale continues to grow year on year, with last year’s day sale achieving a 100% clearance on bulls and grossing $981,500. Bulls averaged $7,378, topping at $34,000, and heifers achieved an 84% clearance averaging $4,884. The night sale followed suit, with all 9 heifers selling for an average of $15,222 and topping at $26,000, and semen packages fetching an average of $725 per straw.

Each year all sale vendors also present commercially relevant cattle with desirable carcase traits, all sold for affordable prices, proving the Great Northern Brahman Sale offers something for everyone – quality stud sires and heifers are available, as well as easy-doing Brahman cattle that will suit commercial breeders and operations.

This year buyers can expect a diverse and well-prepared catalogue, with all sale vendors committed to presenting a line of excellent Brahman cattle with a heavy focus on vital commercial traits such as carcass quality, fertility, temperament and feed conversion. All bulls offered have passed semen testing, morphology testing, muscle scanning, and are sire-verified.

All seven vendors return in 2025, offering cattle that will meet the demands of Australia’s current market:

  • Cambil Brahmans (Lawson and Sophie Camm)

  • Ooline Brahmans (Darren and Sue Kent)

  • Vella Brahmans (Ray and Leah Vella)

  • Burdekin Brahmans (Nick and Kira Brownson)
